Windhoek, March 2023 – Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) on 3 March 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and offer training in customer service, research and on the job training.
The partnership aims to enhance the quality of service delivery in the hospitality industry and provide opportunities for professional development and research.
The MoU outlines a cooperation programme between NUST and NWR, which includes professional development for staff of both organizations, curriculum development, hosting of NUST students for work-integrated learning, research, secondment of staff, and sharing of research facilities and professional training.
Under the agreement, NWR will provide opportunities for NUST students to do in-service training, research projects and other activities, subject to the need for such service and conditions agreed upon between NWR and NUST. The collaboration will also encourage and promote research at both institutions to provide opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to promote the generation and application of knowledge relating to business activities.
“The collaboration between NWR and NUST is an opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and competencies in the field of customer service,” said NWR Managing Director, Dr Matthias Ngwangwama. “We are confident that this partnership will help to improve service delivery in the hospitality industry and contribute to the development of human capital in Namibia.”
NUST Vice Chancellor Dr. Erold Naomab stated that the collaboration with NWR is part of the university’s commitment to developing partnerships that will provide students with practical experience and exposure to industry.
“We are excited about this collaboration and look forward to working with NWR to provide our students with opportunities to gain practical experience in the hospitality industry,” said Naomab.
The MoU between NWR and NUST will serve as a framework for collaboration and is expected to contribute to the development of human capital in Namibia’s hospitality industry.
