Implemented by partners, the Namibia Biomass Industry Group (N-BiG), the Charcoal Association of Namibia (CAoN), formerly known as Namibia Charcoal Association (NCA), and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), the BIOMASS FAIR is an event tailored toward the blossoming bush biomass sector in Namibia and the region at large. The company announced that it had achieved a clean audit for the first time, indicating its commitment to effective governance and accountability.

Helalia Johannes to Attempt Record Break at NWR Annual Half Marathon

 

Windhoek, 9 May 2023 –Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) is excited to announce that Helalia Johannes, an accomplished Namibian long-distance runner, will attempt to break her own national half-marathon record at the NWR Annual Half Marathon on May 27, 2023.

 

Helalia Johannes is a four-time Olympian and has participated in three World Championships. She has won a Commonwealth Games title and a World Championships bronze medal. Johannes holds national records for the 10,000 meters, half-marathon, and marathon distances.

 

During the race, Helalia will be joined by pacers to help her maintain the necessary speed for her record-breaking attempt. She will also have a constant supply of water throughout the race. The current Namibian half-marathon record, held by Johannes, stands at 1:07:49.

 

The NWR Annual Half Marathon takes place at the picturesque Gross Barmen Resort in Okahandja. It offers race distances of 5, 10, and 21 kilometers, welcoming both seasoned runners and beginners. The event aims to promote wellness, healthy lifestyles, and conservation efforts. The marathon will generate funds to support anti-poaching initiatives and rhino conservation programs.

Update on Fish River Canyon Hike

 

Windhoek, 26 April 2023 – Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) would like to inform all hikers that an assessment of Fish River Canyon was recently conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. The assessment found that the water levels in the canyon are lower than expected due to the low rainfall season in the south of Namibia.

 

In light of this, NWR has decided to deploy water marshals in the canyon to assist hikers during the hiking season, which starts on 1 May 2023. These water marshals will ensure that hikers have access to safe drinking water and will monitor water usage to conserve this valuable resource.

 

Furthermore, hikers are advised to carry water purifying tablets during their hike to ensure that they have access to clean water at all times. This precautionary measure is essential, especially in light of the low water levels in the canyon.”

Namibia Wildlife Resorts Congratulates 31 Employees on the Successful Completion of their Management Development Program

 

Windhoek, 25 April 2023 – Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) is pleased to announce that 31 Middle Management employees have successfully completed the Management Development Program (MDP). The program ran over 12 months and was tailored to ensure staff members keep themselves abreast with the latest management and leadership skills needed for the industry.

 

The Management Development Program was designed inhouse and was tailored to enhance the management skills of resort and head office managers and to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their roles. The program covered various topics, including leadership, strategy, finance, and human resources management.

This year’s race will be particularly special as it will feature a guided run with special assistance for the runner attempting to break the Namibian record of 21 kilometres. While we cannot reveal the identity of this special runner at this time, we are thrilled to offer an opportunity for them to make history on our course.

 

The event will offer three distance options, including 5, 10, and 21 kilometres, with a registration fee of 100 Namibian dollars. We invite participants from across Namibia and beyond to join us for this exciting event, which promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Namibia Wildlife Resorts and Namibia University of Science and Technology Sign MoU to Collaborate on Customer Service Training

 

Windhoek, March 2023 – Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) on 3 March 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and offer training in customer service, research and on the job training.

 

The partnership aims to enhance the quality of service delivery in the hospitality industry and provide opportunities for professional development and research.

 

The MoU outlines a cooperation programme between NUST and NWR, which includes professional development for staff of both organizations, curriculum development, hosting of NUST students for work-integrated learning, research, secondment of staff, and sharing of research facilities and professional training.

 

Under the agreement, NWR will provide opportunities for NUST students to do in-service training, research projects and other activities, subject to the need for such service and conditions agreed upon between NWR and NUST. The collaboration will also encourage and promote research at both institutions to provide opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to promote the generation and application of knowledge relating to business activities.

 

“The collaboration between NWR and NUST is an opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and competencies in the field of customer service,” said NWR Managing Director, Dr Matthias Ngwangwama. “We are confident that this partnership will help to improve service delivery in the hospitality industry and contribute to the development of human capital in Namibia.”

 

NUST Vice Chancellor Dr. Erold Naomab stated that the collaboration with NWR is part of the university’s commitment to developing partnerships that will provide students with practical experience and exposure to industry.
