Windhoek, Namibia – 30 April 2025 – Following our earlier communication on the indefinite postponement of the Fish River Canyon hiking season due to high water level concerns raised by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has taken note of the disappointment expressed by many of our valued clients.
After careful review and further discussions with key stakeholders, NWR is pleased to announce that the Fish River Canyon Hike will officially open from 1 May 2025.
While the water levels remain higher than usual, the route is deemed safe for hiking, provided that participants take necessary precautions. We strongly advise that:
- All hikers proceed with experienced guides, or
- Ensure that they have prior canyon hiking experience.NWR encourages all adventurers to take proper safety measures and prepare adequately for the journey ahead. This hiking season, enjoy the breathtaking beauty of one of Namibia’s most iconic natural wonders.
