Background
Namibia Wildlife Resorts is a State owned enterprise, mandated to run the tourism facilities within the protected areas of Namibia. Its only shareholder is the Government of the Republic of Namibia; hence, it belongs to the Namibian people.
The company was created through an Act of Parliament, the Namibia Wildlife Resorts campany Act, and has been in existence since 1998. On inception, the company operated 22 Resorts inside Namibia's National Parks.
The company suffered a brief collapse due to mismanagement and a bad product and service delivery and as a result was rescued by the Government in 2006.
The new management team, spearheaded by Managing Director Dr. Tobie Aupindi has for the past 3 years been undertaking an intensive turnaround strategy which includes the upgrade of key facilities, to meet market demand and deliver customer satisfaction.
To date, the company has refurbished all of its facilities inside National Parks, and also introduced two new upmarket products: Sossus Dune Lodge inside the Namib Naukluft National Park and Onkoshi Camp in Etosha National Park.
The company has also transitioned into a service orientated entity, placing a lot of value on its staff component and empowering all individuals with state of the art hospitality training and mentorship programmes. The new NWR also proves its commitment to providing memorable experiences to its guests with the introduction of Park based activities such as game drives, exclusive night game drives, nature walks and excursions, all in the company of our well versed and professional guides.
